Directions to New River Valley Jail
The official NRVRJ directions page places the jail near I-81 exit 98. From the southbound exit, drivers bear right, proceed north on Route 100 toward Dublin, turn right at the second stop light, bear hard right onto Newbern Road, and follow it about six-tenths of a mile to the entrance on the left across from the cemetery. From northbound I-81, drivers cross the median, turn left onto north Route 100, pass under the interstate, and follow the same Newbern Road approach.

The map and route text are more reliable than assuming the sheriff's Hillsville address is the jail destination.

Mail and Money at NRVRJ
Personal mail is scanned through the NRVRJ mail process. It must go to P.O. Box 247, Phoenix, MD 21131 and include the full facility name and state, the inmate full name and identifier, and the sender's full name and physical address. Legal mail does not use that Phoenix personal-mail address. Checks and money orders should not be sent to the personal-mail scanning address.
Money can be mailed as a money order to NRVRJ in care of the inmate, accepted in person, deposited at the lobby kiosk, or deposited online or by phone through ConnectNetwork. NRVRJ says the kiosk accepts 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 dollar bills. ConnectNetwork fees may apply.

Phone Calls at NRVRJ
NRVRJ lists general inmate phone windows of 8:00-11:00 a.m., 2:00-4:00 p.m., and 6:30-10:00 p.m. Inmates can make debit, prepaid, or collect calls. They cannot receive incoming calls. Phones may be turned off during meals, headcounts, emergencies, or any time the jail deems necessary.
